Soon the Tourist Police came, followed by the National Police with flak jackets and motorcycles. One of the boys fled but another was nabbed, thrown to the ground, and kept prone by a cop's boot on his back. We waited in the rain while one of the bystanders drove off with two motorcycle cops to try to find the kid who had run off. Eventually he was found, and the two boys were handcuffed and driven off on the backs of police motorcycles, while the 2 girls were protesting their innocence. We were driven in a police truck to the nearby station to tell our story. But no there understood much English, and when they found out nothing was taken we were sent home on the trolley.
MORAL: Always carry an umbrella, you never know when you'll need it.
Police escort to the trolley. From his sign language, we think he was joking about using his baton on the miscreants.

"umbrella at the ready" sounds like a move worthy of Amelia Peabody!

Wow ! Nobody paid any attention when I got my pockets picked in Spain. We couldn't even find a policeman to tell our sorrows to. Glad you are safe.
I guess you gave them the old "Mary Poppins move" and that held them back....did you shout:
supercalifragilisticespialidocious!?!
In all seriousness, glad that all turned out well....
A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down!
