About 2 weeks ago we found a great deal on Spirit Air for flights to Florida, so we took advantage of that to book a week in Miami Beach. When we left Detroit the temperature was -11F! So far our first 2 days in Miami have been wonderful--sunshine, temps in the mid-70's, lots of great pool time and beach walks.
Our plan was to stay till Friday evening, but yesterday Julie called us to say that she has been diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome and has been checked into the hospital for a few days. She seems to have a pretty mild case, for which we're very thankful, but of course it's very difficult for her with Andrew and very concerning because it's potentially a serious disease. Dave brought Andrew over to see his mama this morning, and that was a very happy time for all. Dave's mom is coming over today and staying with him and Andrew so they'll be very well taken care of.
We've moved up our return from Florida by a few days, and we 'll be home Wednesday night. We're anxious to be with Julie and to be able to help out.
