Photos from Tikal

Pictures of the ruins--Tikal holds the ruins of one of the greatest Mayan cities. Begun between 900-700 BC, it reached its height at about AD 600-700, with a population of about 100,000. The city was abandoned around AD 1000.

Our hotel in the Tikal area had a beautiful garden with topiary hedges in the shape of Quetzal birds and a gazebo with hammocks for all.
