Belize it or not, here we go

Belize doesn't quite lend itself to such fun puns as Jamaica, so you may see a few groaners over the next few weeks! (Or maybe you think the Jamaica puns are groaners too.) We're flying out next week Tuesday from Detroit to Belize City. If your sense of Central American geography is like ours, the maps might be helpful. You can see Belize is located just south of Mexico and next to Guatemala. We're spending 5 1/2 weeks total in Belize--the first week in the San Ignacio area, mostly birdwatching; the next week on Caye Caulker, which is just south of Ambergris Caye. This is a famous scuba-diving area, and tho' we don't plan to dive, we expect to get some great snorkeling in. From there we'll take a 3-day sailing, snorkeling and camping trip to get to Placentia, where we're renting a condo for 3 weeks. And after Belize, we'll spend 3 weeks in Guatemala.

A lot of people have asked if this a mission trip--our only mission is to relax and to contribute to the local economy. And of course to see Annette Witte in Guatemala.
