Our last week on South Padre Island was a mix of relaxation and a flurry of activity. Our good friend Linda Kenney arrived on Monday and we enjoyed a few wonderful days together not doing much more than laying by the pool and reading.
The flurry of activity came because of the April 14-15 flooding in the Northeast. We were on a number of conference calls throughout the week. And then on Thursday, just after bringing Linda to the airport, we got a call from a group in Paterson, NJ, who really wanted CRWRC Disaster Relief Assistance in putting together a long-term recovery committee. The meeting is this coming Tuesday, and after looking at a few travel options, we decided it made the most sense to drive home to Mich and then drive to NJ on Monday.
So we left Texas Friday morning and arrived home Saturday evening at about 9:30 pm. A couple of long days but we like driving and like seeing the country—this time all the way from full blown spring in Texas to barely begun spring in Michigan.
