Thai-ing one on in Bangkok

Not really!
We had smooth and on-time flights to get here. Although center seats for one 12 1/2 hour flight and the same for the 7-hour flight weren't great, at least United does well with leg-room so we weren't too uncomfortable and managed to sleep for a few hours. We are staying at the Asia Hotel, a great bargain and really very nice. It's located right by the sky-train and a block from the water taxi. Regular taxis and tuk-tuks abound, of course, so we're in a good position to get around. Didn't go too far afield today, just explored our neighborhood and sat by the pool. More tourist-type activity tomorrow.
